Charities
The Rotary Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh has raised in the
region of £500,000 for charity since it was formed in 1989 as well
as helping with many local and international projects. We hope to
raise over £5,000 from this event. Our expenses are kept to a
minimum as Rotarians, their partners, Inner Wheel members and other
welcome helpers give of their time freely and we are very lucky to
have a number of suppliers and sponsors who either make no charge
at all or just a nominal fee. Please see the Sponsors page for more
details.
This year the Reading Charity Art Fair is
supporting the Royal Berkshire Hospital Staff Wellbeing
Centre.
The wellbeing and welfare of NHS staff is essential to the care
of all patients. Like many hospitals throughout the UK, the staff
members at all levels at the Royal Berkshire Hospital have worked
tirelessly with dedication under immense pressure during the
Covid-19 pandemic. To ensure that they get the support they all
deserve, a permanent wellbeing centre is being established near to
the hospital. It will be a place for them to rest, relax and access
services to help them keep well, healthy and motivated. The centre
will provide space for holistic therapies, exercise classes and
psychological support. Donations and purchases at the Art Fair
will add to the funding of these much-needed
facilities.
Previous Art Fairs have helped the Thames Valley Air Ambulance,
Royal Berkshire Charity to buy an Ultrasound Scanner and a Faxitron
scanner to improve the detection and treatment of breast cancer.
Funds have also been raised for the Alexander Devine Children's
Hospice.
